Four Square celebrating seven years with culture night

July 17, 2023

Raglan Four Square celebrated seven years in business with a return of the popular Indian Culture Night.

Owner/operator Satnam Bains says the event was a huge success and the rain held off until near the end but sadly the cultural performances were cancelled.

“We had a very good response from the community and the rain waited until the very last person was served.”

Hundreds of lucky locals enjoyed a taste of India prepared by Satnam’s mother and her friends.

The group spent the whole day getting the food ready at the South Auckland Sikh temple, which included delicious chickpea curry, dhal, rice and chapati.

Satnam began the Indian Cultural Night in 2017 to thank the community for their support having taken over the business in 2016.

This is the first cultural night since Covid made large gatherings difficult to manage and Satnam says it is good to be able to share food with the community again.

He says the opportunity to work in his own business in Raglan and be a part of the community is a huge privilege.

“Every day is interesting and I look forward to every single day.”
