Art to Wear 20th year show

May 5, 2023

Raglan makers and creators – your time to shine is here again for our unique Art to Wear competition this May 27th. Many individual artists and collaborators will be busy planning, collecting, constructing and bringing their ideas to life. We are intrigued to see what different materials, possibilities and skills will be brought together for your designs this year.

If you love the show and have always wanted to enter, it is not too late! The show is a fantastic platform to showcase your inventive, resourceful, artistic, wild or imaginative side. All themes are open to interpretation. If you have an artistic passion you would like to see come alive on stage we encourage you to join us.

This year will be a spectacular celebration not to be missed, marking 20 years of Raglan Art to Wear. We look forward to showcasing many of our wonderful creative community of artists, designers, parents, teachers, students and whanau who have wowed the audience with their lavish and unique creations and performances over the years.

Our 2023 sections themes:

Kaleidoscope – psychedelic colour, endless patterns, optical illusions, prisms of exploding light.

Ngā Tupu o te Wao – I roto i te ururua o te ngahere i waenga i te hararore me te kohukohu. Whanake ai ngā tupu o te whenua; he koiora ki te ao tūroa.

Forest Flora – Deep in the undergrowth amongst the fungi and moss mysteries are growing from the earth into creations of nature.

Time in Motion – Tick tock clocks. Time passing or time standing still? Cogs and gears moving in time. Wacky retro creations of the past or sci-fi fantasy visions of the future.

Suit-able – Does this suit me? A suit of armour or suitable attire. Have some fun upcycling a suit or coat into something wildly wonderful to suit your taste.

Wing it – Children can let their young creative minds soar with this one. Spread wings of imagination into funky, fabulous, flighty formations to wow the runway.

Costumes to be received by 26th May. Register your entry at www.raglanartscentre.co.nz or email the Art to Wear team tinli33ie@gmail.com
