Raglan Arts Film Festival Awards celebrates local filmmaking

October 28, 2022

Celebrating local filmmaking since 2006, the Raglan Arts Film Festival Awards is ready to roll again with a week packed with film previews and night of celebrations at the Red Carpet evening.

RAFFA nominees’ short films will be on the Old School big screen starting Thursday, November 10 – entry by koha.

The nominated short films range from bird watching, music videos, painting in nature and creative Tik Toks to a teen struggling with Tourettes, the art of drumming, words staining skin and more.

After the last couple of years hampered by Covid interruptions, RAFFA spokesperson Karla Rix-Trott says the film festival team is thrilled with the standard and number of entries.

“In 2020 we cancelled the film festival and last year we ran it virtually, so it’s really pleasing to see there is still enthusiasm for the local filmmaking.”

For the big finale and a night of glitz and glamour, the RAFFA Red Carpet evening is on Saturday, November 19 at 5.30pm at the Te Uku Hall with food, entertainment and much more. CASH BAR | No Eftpos. Red Carpet tickets are on sale now at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre.

Opening night Thursday, November 10 – bar open from 6pm, films begin at 6.30pm.  More screenings on Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 visit www.raglanartscentre.co.nz for more information.
