On Saturday willing community members turned up and together planted around 900 natives alongside the new Greenslade to Nikau Park footpath.
With young and older alike, it was a great time to connect and work together to create more native forest close to home.
Many thanks to Gareth from Waikato District Council for supporting this collaboration with the community. Thanks to Anna Cunningham and Bex Eivers for support and expertise in planting, Karioi Nursery for last minute support, to those who came to plant, brought baking and stopped for a chat.
One child enjoyed it so much he referred to it as ‘the gardening party we went to’.
It’s wonderful what we can do when we work together like this!
