Three Kiwi couples lose weight and gain energy with ‘Game Changers’ challenge

October 22, 2020

Raglan Food Co’s ‘Game Changers Challenge’ inspired by the popular Netflix documentary has seen three Kiwi couples successfully complete a month of plant-based eating.

Each couple won a prize pack valued at over $1,780 that included meals, supplements, and weekly sessions with a qualified nutritionist & naturopath, plus lab tests at the beginning and end of the challenge.

It was a big change for these meat & dairy-loving Kiwis, but they rose to the challenge, reporting weight loss, clearer skin, more energy, and better sleep. One contestant, Mary, also used the challenge as an opportunity to give up alcohol. Another contestant, Talia, who has battled with cancer over the past year said that, “Doing this challenge was exactly what we needed. Not only to detox our bodies and nourish them but also to reconnect as husband and wife. My sleep is more restful and my mood is more stable too.”

Alena Winter (nutritionist & naturopath at The Herbal Dispensary) supported the couples with weekly consultations and saw the results firsthand.

“It was wonderful to witness the changes occur each week with all three couples. After just the first week every couple said they felt ‘lighter’ after meals! This translated into improved digestion, cognitive function, and energy levels. Although one month is a bit brief to notice large changes in blood tests, we saw improvements in various markers such as lipids and liver function (one contestant’s results went right back into ‘normal’ ranges!). This challenge has been a wake-up call to all of the couples, it is not often you take a good look at your health before disease sets in.”

With the interest in healthy, more environmentally-friendly eating growing around the world, Raglan Food Co is excited to be part of accelerating the shift to a plant-based diet for humankind.
