PARTY, PREVENT, PREVAIL at the Zumba Party in Pink

October 22, 2020

It’s a Zumba Party in Pink on Saturday, November 7 to raise money for the fight against breast cancer.

Local Zumba instructors Maria Rotella and Yvonne-Aimer Scully say their goal is to celebrate and honour friends and family that are navigating through breast cancer.

“This is important to us because we have women in our Raglan Zumba community who are battling or have battled breast cancer,” Maria says.  “It’s sad but so many of us will know someone who has experienced cancer in some way or other.”

Not wanting it to be a solemn occasion, Maria and Yvonne have come to understand through the women they know that sometimes the cancer journey is one to be shared.

“The women in our Zumba community tell us how much support they get from sharing their stories and being able to laugh and cry, and to dance,” Maria says.

Expecting to draw 200 Zumba enthusiasts and supporters to the Raglan Town Hall for plenty of dancing, the pair hope to raise $10,000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Plus, a further 500 tickets are for sale for a chance to win the major Eat/Play/Stay Raglan raffle, which includes hundreds of dollars’ worth of local products, services and experiences.

“It’s such a great opportunity to meet new people, get connected through Zumba and raise money for such a good cause,” Yvonne says.

An all ages event, expect plenty of Zumba action with instructors from Auckland, Hamilton, Te Kuiti and Waiheke Island joining Maria and Yvonne to share their own take on the Zumba dance craze.

Yvonne is looking forward to getting the youngsters on the Zumba floor, and there’s also the opportunity to dance to the Latin beats with local Salsa expert Raulin GL.

Registrations start at 2pm, followed by Zumba Kids at 3pm, yoga with Bethany at 3.30pm, a HIIT class by personal trainer Sophie von Huben at 4pm, Salsa with Raul at 4.30pm and the Zumba party kicks off at 5.30pm.

Maria and Yvonne say ticket holders can stay for the whole time or choose what they would like to do.

Raise money for breast cancer and Party in Pink Raglan at the Raglan Town Hall, Sunday, November 7. To purchase tickets message Yvonne on the Party in Pink event page Facebook, text or phone 0220 535 0626, or email YvonneScully68@yahoo.com.
