A message from the Raglan Chronicle Team

June 11, 2020

To our Chronicle readers and supporters

First and foremost, we would like to extend our thanks for your support. The past couple of months have been a testing time for many and it has been heartwarming to see the ways our community has come together to support each other.

As you may all be aware the media industry, as a whole, has been experiencing a lot of change in recent years with the rise of social media and digital production as well as the continuing high costs associated particularly with print media. Over the past few months we have seen countless publications folding and many talented writers lose their jobs.

These changes noted above, coupled with our experience of the recent pandemic, has encouraged us to re-look at how we move forward in order to continue publishing the Chronicle and to remain progressive and innovative.

Government support that was announced for the media industry during lockdown, while it provided much needed aid to broadcast and radio, unfortunately did not include support for print media.

With this current environment it is with heavy hearts that we announce that we will be shifting to fortnightly publication from our current weekly schedule.

While we will only be publishing the Chronicle fortnightly moving forward, we are excited to announce that we will now be publishing the magazine edition, The Local Rag, every month.

We will implement these changes in the first week of July until the end of November 2020. We will then review the new frequency and decide how to move forward.

Thank you for your understanding. We are choosing to embrace these changes and we look forward to continuing to celebrate the community we live in.

Thanks again for your support.
