Luna Beauty opens in the CBD

February 27, 2020

This week the Chronicle caught up with Luna Beauty, run by Hope Phillips.

Tell us about why you decided to open Luna Beauty

I was visiting family and noticed there wasn’t a beauty shop in the CBD, I also wanted to move my son here to have a small town life for high school (he’s currently year 9 at Raglan Area School)

What is your background in beauty and  Where have you worked or operated from?

I’ve been a beauty therapist for 15 years now, which includes makeup artistry, massage, nail tech and lash tech more recently. I own another small salon in Wellington also.

Do you have a speciality?

My passion is makeup artistry and eyelash extensions ..my mum says I like the “Glam” which is absolutely true!’

What other treatments do you offer? We started with waxing, lashes and spray tanning- then recently added manicures/pedicures and facials as we were getting asked about them often.

When are you open?

I spend half my week in Raglan and half in Wellington- so usually 3-4 days are in each town per week.. I’m clocking up lots of air points for sure!

Where are you situated?

Haha great question. Google can’t really find us so I tell everyone “behind Raglan Roast, across from WOK organics and next to the Artisan Bakery” but “3 Wainui Rd” if that’s helps or B REX’s old frame shop.

How do people contact you?

Pop in for a chat if you see the doors are open! Also via Facebook, Instagram, my numbers 0211900111 & our website is www.lunabeauty.co.nz

Do you have family connections to Raglan?

I lived here as a kid and went to RAS for a couple years, my little brothers a born and bred Raglan boy and my step mother has lived here 30 years and is a local business owner here too- “In my Good Books” second hand book shop, Hi Mum!
