What’s on at the YOT Club – 10 August

August 10, 2017

There will be something for everyone over the next few Fridays at the YOT Club. This Friday we have the Hussy Hicks.

If you are into blues, folk, country or jazz then you’ll want to catch the Hussy Hicks who are embarking on their first ever tour of New Zealand.

Since forming in 2006, the Australian duo of Julz Parker and Leesa Gentz have forged their own unique way into the global music scene. Fearlessly independent, the genre defying Hussy Hicks have followed a trail of possibilities, random twists and turns and discovered a musical world all their own.

The Hussies have been welcomed with honorary memberships into blues, folk, country and jazz circles, spreading their good vibes across festival stages and venues throughout Europe, America and Australia, with the single goal of playing music for the absolute joy of it.

Tickets are $10 presale from Eventfinda or $15 at the door.

On Friday, August 18, we have German techno DJ Abby Jane from the Dirtybird label. To get one of the Dirtybird stars to Raglan is a huge deal so we hope you will come out to support. Local warmup from Rayner and Auckland’s Bogan Laker.

Friday, August 25, brings Australian conscious reggae act the Jesse Morris band to Raglan. This Byron Bay based act is very much along the lines of The Jon Butler Trio or Xavier Rudd so expect a big night.

Future gigs also include: The return of local funk outfit Mighty Mighty on Saturday, September 9, Hamilton punk band Contenders hosting a night on September 16, while the weekend of September 22 and 23 brings two of Raglan’s favourite bands to town. The Nudge are playing on Friday while The Knights of the Dub Table perform on Saturday. September is rounded off by Racing, an offshoot of The Mighty Checks, playing Saturday, September 30. All other nights we have resident DJs with either free entry or a small cover charge.
