Soundsplash kicks off this Friday

January 19, 2017

Soundsplash 2017 kicks off this Friday the 20th, with over 40 artists across three stages – and even the sun will be making an appearance in Whaingaroa.

For those attending the festival, there are some key elements you might want to know.

Parking at the festival is only available for those camping. If you have a ticket and are staying in town there will be a free shuttle available to transport you between town and Soundsplash. Shuttles will depart from the Raglan i-SITE Visitor Information Centre in Wainui Rd and run continuously from Friday, 10am-2am, Saturday 9am-2am and Sunday 9am-6pm. You’ll need to show your Soundsplash ticket or wristband to gain entry to the shuttle.

Soundsplash was established as a zero-waste festival and continues to work alongside Xtreme Zero Waste to compost and recycle as much as possible. Last year the Soundsplash and XZW team achieved a massive 88 per cent diversion of rubbish from landfill. Remember to bring items that are recyclable, biodegradable, reusable or compostable. No glass or plastic bags onsite please!! The Zero Waste Team will be giving out biodegradable bags when attendees enter for all food scraps and biodegradable packaging.

Aligning with the Soundsplash kaupapa, workshops will also be available throughout the festival for attendees, including: yoga, beat making, a poetry gathering, intro to mindfulness and more.Check the Soundsplash schedule online for workshop days and times.

Soundsplash is a family-friendly event, children under the age of 14 are welcome to come along with a paying adult ticket holder. Please note that there will be no gate sales.

The Soundsplash whānau is looking forward to another solid year. For full artist lineup, schedule and complete FAQ’s for this weekend, visit soundsplash.co.nz.
