A clandestine challenge for Raglan Art to Wear

April 19, 2018

Creatives looking for some intrigue can enter the mystery box section new to the Raglan Art to Wear competition this year.

Open to all ages, Mystery Box coordinator Paula Cotterill says entrants can let their artistic juices run wild decorating a hat.

“The hats are all the same but the items vary in each box.”

Let loose in Kaahu’s Nest and the various op shops in Raglan and Hamilton, Paula also trawled the natural environment for items in the boxes.

“One of the items is from the land and the seashore. The judges will be focused on the use of recycled and salvaged materials,” she says.

Paula says the Mystery Box challenge is a great opportunity for people who are time-poor to create something amazing in a short space of time.

“It’s also perfect for first-time entrants who might need some ideas to get their creativity flowing.”

Mystery Boxes will be available for collection during the Raglan Art to Wear workshops at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre on Sunday. April 22 and May 6 from 3.30-5.30pm and at the Raglan Creative Market On Sunday May 13.
