Contemporary Kiwi on the menu at new bistro

November 30, 2017

Wallis Bistro is the newest dining place on the block and owners Justin and Alix Thomson plan on offering diners a full-flavoured, modern Kiwi dining experience.

Taking over The Local Eatery on Wallis Street, Justin has been hard at working renovating the space to create a cosy, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, and making the most of the sheltered garden space out the back for al fresco dining in the coming summer months.

Justin and Alix are familiar with the café scene in Raglan owning the busy corner café The Shack, the former chefs will focus on lunch and dinner at Wallis Bistro.

“The feedback we are getting from a lot of people is Raglan needs more night time dining venues,” Justin says.

Influenced by Spanish and Italian cuisines, Justin says the menu will reflect those flavour profiles and will also take inspiration from the awesome tastes unique to Aotearoa.

“You can’t grow up in the Pacific and not be influenced.”

There will be a selection of small plates perfect for sharing over a wine and the option for the traditional entrée, main and dessert affair for more intimate dining
