Q&A with On Point Plumbing

June 29, 2017

The Chronicle caught up with local plumber Nick Heasman and asked a few questions about his business, On Point Plumbing.

Tell us about your business:

A locally owned business, I’m a certified plumber and drainlayer and working towards my gasfitting certification. Having lived in this quaint community for the past 10 years, I thought it was about time to move business this side of the divvy.

How long have you been in the business and trade?

I started my plumbing apprenticeship straight out of school at 17 and have been working for various plumbing companies for the last 26 years in Taupo, Auckland, Hamilton and London.  I spent the last 10 years with Hamilton Plumbing Company, and have just recently started On Point Plumbing in Raglan.

What do you specialise in?

All aspects of plumbing and drainlaying, in new builds, maintenance, renovations and light commercial work.

What are common issues/problems you encounter on the job?

Kids toys dropped down toilets is a pretty common occurrence.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes, we do.

What is the best thing about running your business?

Meeting new people/clients and building relationships in our community and having the time to be more involved in my kids after school sports.

Best piece of advice you can offer customers:

Call a plumber before a small leak becomes a major building problem!
