Raglan Film Festival 2024 prize winners

Entrants, sponsors and locals gathered at the Raglan Town Hall for the Raglan Arts Film Festival Awards. As always, local filmmakers were the winners on the night, with the finest of movie-making on show. 

Elisabeth Denis walked away the coveted Grand Phoenix Palm Award for best overall film for The Hands of a Blue Tale. Best Actor went to Liam Pettigrew in Jimmy McBean, Cinematography to Andrew Duggan and Cian Parker for Between Two Worlds and Screenplay for Dawn of a Teenager went to MacCallum Ongley, Dougal McGregor, Caleb Van Staden and Otto Leigh. 

We would like to acknowledge all the filmmakers.  Every one of the films entered were exceptional in their own way.

The Raglan Film Festival is a Creative Raglan Event proudly bought to you by the Raglan Community Arts Council.  

This event is organised by a team of dedicated volunteers who had so much fun bringing this film festival together for our Whaingaroa community.  If you would like to be involved as a volunteer for the next film festival for 2025, please email info@raglanartscentre.co.nz

Artist feature: Stuart Shepherd

Stuart Shepherd spent several years, from 2000-2010, challenging the art establishment in NZ, by discovering and championing self-taught (outsider) artists. His interest
