Report from Raglan Police

May 15, 2023

In the last 30 days Raglan Police have received 96 reports.  Of note are the following :

11 x Family Harm incidents

2 x Burglaries

9 x Vehicle Crashes including 1 x Fatal crash

6 x Drink Driving

It is disappointing to see that drink driving is still happening.  Alcohol impairs driving.  Blowing anywhere between 250 – 400 micrograms will land an adult driver with a $200.00 fine and 50 demerits on their licence.  Blowing over 400 will see you in Court and definitely losing your licence for a minimum of 6 months.  Under 20’s – your alcohol level is 0.

There has been a bit of found property handed in to the station over recent weeks. Some cell phones, a soft top surfboard, a pager, pounamu, GoPro, ear buds and female wetsuit.

Frequently we are locating young people wandering and loitering about town and the CBD late at night and in the early hours of the morning, often hanging around outside the licensed premises while they are operating.  This is not appropriate or safe.  Police have and will continue to uplift these young people where necessary.  Make sure you know what your teenager is doing and that you can contact each other at any time. Many teenagers are still learning to be responsible for their own safety and wellbeing and parents/guardians need to ensure that boundaries and expectations are set and are being met.
