Magic Manu – Awe-inspiring vista With Bayleys Real Estate

April 11, 2023

It’s not very often that properties come on the market at Manu Bay. Mark Frost from Bayleys has listed 596c Wainui Road, a one of a kind property positioned high above one of the world’s best surf breaks with commanding views across the Tasman Sea.

“It’s a privilege to be selling such an awesome home overlooking an iconic world class surf break where the view is always changing, and the sun sets are unparalleled. It is very rare for properties in this location to come on the market and we have had good interest so far from buyers across NZ and overseas, all wanting to get their hands on this unique property”

The Local Rag had a chat to the owner Brian Clement about his passion for his beach pad.

Many locals know and admire your idyllic Manu Bay spot. What do you know about the history of the property?

The house was built around the early 80s and I made contact with the original owner/builder.

He had fond memories of being here and this is where he and his partner raised their family.

I recall his descriptions of setting the very tall foundation poles on this site – a tricky job – all done by hand and by him, way before excavators and diggers were available.

What have you loved most about owning this slice of paradise?

This house has a very special magnetism that gets to you.Without fail on arrival here you step out and the shimmering moving monster ocean hits your senses. Either a whispering endless blue greets you or with just as much appeal a raging crashing and thundering ocean is coming straight at ya!

You feel you are floating over it all.

It makes you feel alive and the spirits really do soar.

What kind of feedback do you get from those who visit or stay there?

Many times when showing visitors, they step out onto the large front deck and sort of gasp.

Comments like,

‘This has to be the biggest ocean view I’ve seen in Raglan’

‘I just love the constantly changing colours and moods of the beautiful seascapes and the skyscapes but

I’m not getting anything done!’

And the ultra classic …’I want to live here!’

What’s the next chapter for you? Why are you moving on from the property?

We are at the stage of life where we want to downsize a bit and move on.  We have other property to keep busy with.

Who do you think the house would work well for? What benefits come from being in that position?

It would suit all sorts of holiday makers and families.

With multiple decks, sun and shade catching areas, there is space for everyone. It’s great for kids because its boundaries are onto the bush reserve. There is room and potential to expand, and accommodation if needed. The proximity to surfing and fishing is awesome.
