Raglan Playcentre Wednesday Playgroup

June 5, 2021

Here in Whāingaroa we have a Playcentre session at the Scout Hall on Cliff Street every Wednesday during school terms, 9:30-12:30.

Playcentre caters to families with children aged 0-6 years, with a focus on child-led learning so that each week there is a variety of learning and play experiences such as building, baking, painting, dressing up, singing and sand and water play.

Each Playcentre around New Zealand is cooperatively managed by parents and supported by Playcentre Aotearoa staff at a regional and national level.

Our Wednesday play group has been running for many years, and this year we say farewell to our Centre Support Worker, Sue Esther, who has been with us, along with other centres in the Waikato including Te Akau, for over 10 years.

Sue will still be in Playcentre running workshops and doing the online tutoring and Space groups, but we’ll miss her friendly face and super helpful presence in Whāingaroa. Said Miette, a former volunteer and honorary grandmother at Raglan Playcentre: “What a wonderful dedicated supporter Sue has been for more than a decade at the least. I witnessed her enthusiastic assistance over the years.”

All whānau are welcome at Raglan Playcentre and we are currently on the lookout for volunteers to help us with the session (e.g. making playdough, supporting parents and visitors).

If you are interested in helping out please contact raglan@playcentre.org.nz or pop down any Wednesday morning during school term and say hello.
Parents and whānau are the first educators of children, and Playcentres around New Zealand foster the involvement of whānau through early childhood education.

As a family, and as a community, you’ll build your own village with Playcentre: making life-long friends along the way.

See children delight in their surroundings- play with them, alongside them, encourage them to interact with others while you meet other parents and educators.

Raglan Playcentre meets Wednesdays (9:30am-12:30pm) at Cliff St Scout Hall. Parents and children 0-6 years welcome. Contact raglan@playcentre.org.nz for more information.
