Middle-aged men’s bowls tournament

December 15, 2016

The annual Middle-aged Men’s Bowls Competition was held in stunning conditions at our local bowling club last Friday.
Twenty-eight locals entered this year, which resulted in 14 men’s pairs battling it out over four rounds of bowls. All were eager to win each round to give them the best opportunity to secure the coveted winner’s trophy.
After some fiercely competitive bowling, the men’s pair of Marty Verry and Andy Meek emerged victorious.
Thanks to all the sponsors who ensured no competitor left the tournament empty-handed and the Raglan Bowling Club for the use of their wonderful facilities.
We are all looking forward to next year’s competition, none more so than Phil Meek who was unsuccessful in his bid to defend his winner’s title.
Only 12 more months to go, but it can seem a lifetime for some.
